Reading a cabinet
Each cabinet shows what a person would see on the real box, and nothing more.
What you see
- A picture of the cabinet.
- The nameplate, with the maker, the model and the serial number.
- A network light that flickers when the cabinet is being talked to.
- The sensors, shown as numbered terminals.
- A power switch.
What you do not see
Which cabinet is which on the network is deliberately hidden. On a real site, nothing on the outside of a box says which entry in the software it is. Working that out is the exercise. See Finding the right cabinet.
The network light
When
Bhairava Sense is talking to a cabinet, its light flickers. That is how you can tell, by looking, which cabinet Bhairava Sense is talking to.
The terminals
Each sensor sits at a numbered terminal, as on a real cabinet. You touch or break a sensor from here. See Touching and breaking sensors.
The power switch
Switching a cabinet off makes it stop answering, as a real cabinet would when its power is lost.
